R. Austin Freeman was a great novelist from The United Kingdom, who was famous for writing mystery, thriller, fiction, and travel genre novels. He was particularly popular for writing the Dr. Thorndyke Mysteries book series. Freeman was born as Richard Austin Freeman on Ap, in Soho, London. He had six months of leave from mid and returned to Accra on the Gold Coast just in time to volunteer for the post of medical officer on the planned expedition to Ashanti and Jaman. Freeman was the doctor, naturalist and surveyor for an expedition to Ashanti and Jaman, two independent states in the Gold Coast. The Eye of Osiris, by R. Austin Freeman, is one of Freeman’s early Dr. Thorndyke mystery novels. The character of Dr. Thorndyke is a forensic investigator who acts as a detective in many of Freeman’s mystery novels. Thorndyke uses medical and biological evidence to track down and help convict criminals.
